Lady Texans Basketball

Let me introduce you to nationally ranked Lady Texans basketball team. I had these girls come over to the studio over the weekend to take their team & individual pictures. They showed up with more trophies than there were girls on the team ready and eager for their photo session. We took a photo of each girl in their preferred stance of either shooting, dribbling, playing defense, standing tall, or whatever they thought fit their basketball personality. We also put a different trophy alongside each girl and snapped away. After all the photos were taken I stitched them together in Photoshop and created a panoramic team photo. Little did I know after having these girls over that they were not just a locally recognized team but national! I logged on to their website and Facebook page and saw their track record, ranking, and video highlights of them just simply kicking ass. If you aren’t familiar with these girls I suggest you get familiar with them as they will be making a name for themselves in the years to come. Check out their website at www.laredotexans.com

Tuesday Sports w/956 Unlimited

Three spreads this week in our local 956 Sports Unlimited Magazine! Anyone looking to order their action pictures can do so under the Photo Store.

United South Panther Softball

Switching gears over to the softball world with the Lady Panthers. The Lady Panthers are currently in 2nd place and dont’ have any plans of giving up their spot to anyone. We took their team photo in a more serious/moody way. I love the attitude in their team picture as it shows that they mean business and plan to make some noise this year. Thank you coach Diana Isassi for giving me the opportunity to take the girls team photos. Check back in a few weeks to see some of the ladies action photos!

2011 Alexander Bulldogs Varsity Baseball

Another fun team photo shoot and this time it’s Baseball, America’s Past Time.  We decided to shoot the varsity team photos at the airport in a small 1 hour window of time we were given.  With the airports strict rules and policies the pilots were very friendly and helpful in showing the team around and giving us all the opportunity to do a different kind of photo shoot.  Everyone who knows me and my work knows that I am not a big fan of post production when it comes to my photography.  I like to get the picture as best I can within the camera and not have to fix or touch-up in Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom, but on this special day the light was harsh and we had no power by the helicopter and just a few minutes to take the photo.  We got the team in place, and my main concern was to get a little bit of light under the boys caps so that we could see their faces and just fix the rest in Photoshop. (Which I hate doing by the way). But anyways here is a before & after picture of what I took and what I edited. Special thanks to Bert Kiefer for helping me out at the shoot, Cine De Laredo for the video, and Coach Garcia for the opportunity.  Enjoy the photos and video!

THE BEFORE & THE AFTER

Here is a highlight video of the photo shoot! Enjoy!

Memory Books aren’t only for Seniors!

I’d like to share a memory book I made for a local football high school football star, Billy.  Billy is the starting Junior running back for the United Longhorns and I had the opportunity to follow this young man bulldoze over opposing defenses all year long.   I was able to attend to photograph not only my Senior clients but underclassmen as well at many of the games this past season.  I’d like to share some of photos of Billy’s custom hardbound memory book of all the images I captured throughout his Junior year.  This can be done for any sports at any age or level.  For more information email me at joey@jsphotostudio.com.

Newborn Portraits w/Israel

I’d like to introduce baby Israel to everyone.  He’s only 1 month old and already loves to move all over the table, open and close his eyes, and even grunt!  While we struggled a bit to get him to stay still and comfortable, I was able to manage to catch a few shots of the little guy peaking at me with a mad face, then close his eyes with a smile. Most importantly we were able to photograph him with his basketball in his hand while sleeping and his jersey hanging behind him.  Anyone that follows my blog knows my love for sports photography and how much I can’t wait to catch this kid in action playing with a basketball instead of sleeping with one! Enough chatter, here’s a few images from this morning’s shoot. This is just one of a dozen newborns scheduled to come through my studio in the coming weeks!

Cristina & Jorge

I’m just got back from a mini vacation with the family and I’d like to start my short work week off with a wedding blog post.  This lovely couple got married over the weekend and had a lovely small and intimate reception at the Paseo Real.  I enjoy seeing how every wedding & couple have their own different and unique ideas for their wedding day.   The reception was as beautiful as it gets with lighting, decoration & color.  Thank you Cristina & Jorge for allowing me to be a part of your special day.

Ashley’s Maternity Session

After neglecting my blog for the past couple of weeks I’d like to bring it back to life with a few maternity photos from this morning’s session.  Seems like it was only yesterday when I shot Ashley & Roger’s wedding back in April of 2010.  Now they have a little one on the way and I can’t wait to photograph their newborn baby boy next month.  Most exciting for me is I get to cover this kid “Beni” play sports! Aside the fact that Ashley & Roger were outstanding athletes in all sports, Ashley was an amazing volleyball player at St. Aug & TAMIU while Roger had his own national successes in Tennis while playing for the University of Texas.  I can only imagine what kind of athlete this kid will grow up to be.
